During these times of economic challenges, more than ever, non-profit groups greatly rely on the support from our community. Our youth today are challenged by so many obstacles in life, and they need our programs to help them thrive, and excel. We are dedicated to Supporting Kids In Living and Learning Successfully. The SKILLS Foundation Board of Directors is a partnership with local business professionals, parents, school administrators, civic leaders, police and city personnel
The City of Whittier is a strong, supportive community and believes in providing the best opportunities for our youth. As a long time community member, I am very aware, as I am sure you are, that our children are our future. The SKILLS Foundation wants to provide our children with every opportunity to make a positive contribution to society and our community. We accomplish this by providing after school programs, which help the transition time from the end of school until mom and dad get home. One of our most popular programs is Friday Forum, which is a dance and social program for middle school kids.
Our organization operates through donations and grants. We are always looking for financial assistance and/or volunteers to help with our many programs. If you are interested in helping shape our community’s future, please contact us and let us know how you would like to help.
This promises to be an exciting year for the SKILLS Foundation, as we offer many ways for you to provide your support. In addition to the Red Ribbon Pancake Breakfast and the Golf Tourney, this year we will be adding a “Progressive Dinner” hosted by many of the local restaurants in Uptown Whittier. Enjoy some fun with us, and support the SKILLS Foundation!
I appreciate you taking the time to visit our site and read about our organization. Please take a moment to think about how you can help Whittier’s kids have a great future, and then act. So many times we let things fall through the cracks by setting aside what can be taken care of now. Please take the time to act now and help us pave the road for our children’s futures.
Thank you,
Sue Dean
